Mapfit Continues Its Efforts to Reshape the Mapping API Industry with Appointment of New CEO

NEW YORK – Mapfit today announced that it has appointed accomplished technology executive and investor, Jeroen Seghers as Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through its next phase of innovation and spur exponential growth.

In June 2018, Mapfit announced its seed funding round, which Seghers participated in as an investor and board member. The seed round was taken in to help support the continued excellence of the platform, which provides website and app developers (iOS and Android) with continuously-updated fast vector map serving and accurate geocoding for best-in-class map experiences.

“I am excited to join Mapfit at a pivotal time of growth for the company,” said Seghers. “Getting to know Mapfit and its advantages in the market from the other side of the table as an investor has given me a unique perspective as an incoming CEO. To this point, the Mapfit team have built a platform which has proven to process and organize large amounts of mapping data and expose this to our customers through frequent updates. Where I envision the company moving forward is providing the backbone technology for real-time mapping as the world evolves, supporting advancements such as the future of transportation and autonomous vehicles, drone delivery and other aspects of the on-demand economy.”

Seghers has been an investor and board member of Mapfit’s since 2016. He brings almost two decades of startup experience, having built world-class teams that delivered forward-thinking products to over 100 million consumers. Prior to joining Mapfit, Seghers was founder and CPO of Sourcepoint, a content compensation platform that worked with the world’s largest publishing companies to provide choice to consumers around how they compensate for content access.

“I’m confident that the synergy between Jeroen and my experience will be a dynamic combination for Mapfit,” said Phillip Zakas, co-founder of Mapfit. “As we work to transform the geospatial tech industry, it’s always beneficial to add a new skill set and fresh pair of eyes to the leadership team to ensure we’re growing at the right pace and in the correct ways. From the work I’ve done with Jeroen as an early investor in Mapfit, I knew he would be the right person for this role.”

In addition to Mapfit, Seghers is also an investor in and board member of startups around the world, such as AuctionClub, CopyPress, and FACEIT. His experience spans the fields of consumer software, peer-to-peer networking and media, and he brings a unique outlook to Mapfit to help it become the “mapping platform of the future.”
