Expanded Focus on Drones in Public Safety at Largest Commercial Drone Show in North America

NEW YORK InterDrone, The International Drone Conference and Exposition, announced today it has further expanded its drones in Public Safety content with the addition of a full-day Public Safety workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 4, as well as dedicating an entire track to Public Safety, ensuring comprehensive content throughout the entire show. InterDrone, which is the largest dedicated commercial drone show in North America, will be held September 5 – 7 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, and is expected to draw more than 3,500 UAV professionals from around the world.

The full-day workshop will focus on the steps needed to create a successful drone program within a first responder organization, including police, fire and search and rescue. Topics from laws and regulations to integrating operations and maintenance will be covered. Michael Uleski, a full-time public safety officer for the Daytona Beach Shores Dept. of Public Safety where he is certified as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, and EMT as well as a DARTdrones chief public safety instructor, will teach the workshop.

“It looks like 2018 will mark the year of the drone for public safety agencies. In ever-increasing numbers, agencies are discovering the incredible resource that an unmanned aerial system can bring to their day-to-day operations,” he said.

Additionally, InterDrone has created a dedicated track to Public Safety, which will offer 60-minute classes and panels throughout the remaining three days of the conference. Subjects such as mutual aid deployments, the current landscape and current technology, and successfully deploying UAS during a public safety incident will be covered.

“With 32 percent of our attendees in the public safety sector last year and increasing interest, dedicating four days to drones in public safety content is the right move,” said Katie Flash, Content Director, InterDrone, adding, “This sector is hungry for training and we are happy to deliver such a comprehensive program.”

“Whether you are developing a relevant and ready public safety sUAS program or tweaking a ground-breaking established one, there is something for you at InterDrone,” said Anthony DeMolina, Director of Aeronautical Training for the Los Angeles County Regional Training Center, UAS Subject Matter Expert for the Los Angeles Police Department and InterDrone Advisory Board Member.

He added, “Leveraging instructors from across the country with real-world experience, the sessions address the issues unique to our profession. This conference is one of the few places you can talk about focused issues with subject matter experts in this field, while also accessing speakers from a wide variety of industries.”

The show this year will feature more than 125 sessions, panel discussions, and keynotes conducted by renowned industry experts, covering numerous commercial drone applications. The Exhibit Hall will showcase the latest hardware, software, and drone accessories from more than 165 leading manufacturers and innovators. Attendee registration is now open.
