Dr. Kathryn D. Sullivan to Give Keynote at Esri Ocean GIS Forum

Redlands, California—Esri, the global leader in spatial analytics, today announced that Dr. Kathryn D. Sullivan, former astronaut and administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will give the Keynote Address at the Esri Ocean GIS Forum in Redlands, California, to be held Tuesday, October 31, through Thursday, November 2.

The first American woman to walk in space; a geologist who has served under two presidential administrations; and an authority on the growing role of science in education, weather, ocean economies, homeland security, and public safety, Sullivan will guide attendees through a fascinating view of the future of location intelligence in ocean and atmospheric work.

The Esri Ocean GIS Forum is an annual, three-day event that includes presentations from federal, nonprofit, and academic leaders, as well as moderated sessions with Esri users demonstrating the latest cutting-edge ways The Science of Where can help them chart previously unknown deep-sea environments.

Attendees will explore how geographic information system (GIS) mapping and analytics technology can power the next generation of marine science applications, which includes the following:

  • Discovery and exploration
  • Ocean science research and analysis
  • Ocean-use planning
