New “LIDAR Leaders” Award Program Announced

PORTLAND, ME & FREDERICK, MD – On February 5-7, the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Annual Conference will co-locate with the International LIDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) in Denver.  In anticipation of this unique gathering, organizers are excited to announce the first-ever “LIDAR Leaders” award program in cooperation with LIDAR Magazine. The inaugural ceremony will address three distinct categories:

Outstanding Personal Achievement in LIDAR

-Eligible individuals must have made significant impact to their organization, local or national community, involving technical excellence, professional development or innovation within the realm of geospatial LIDAR technology,

Outstanding Team Achievement in LIDAR

-Eligible teams must demonstrate unique achievement in the area of service, project management, product development or other specialty accomplishment within the realm of geospatial LIDAR technology. Open to private and government organizations, teams of 2-99 members.

Outstanding Enterprise Achievement in LIDAR

-Eligible organizations must demonstrate exceptional achievement as a group of 100 members or more, in the area of service, project management or product development within the realm of geospatial LIDAR technology. Open to private and government organizations.

“For some time, we’ve wanted to formally recognize personal and group achievement in geospatial LIDAR and what better place to announce the winners than at the first ever colocation of ILMF and ASPRS Annual Conference.  We developed these awards in cooperation with LIDAR Magazine and our Advisory Board in the hope this will become something attendees look forward to on an annual basis, moving forward” said Lisa Murray, Event Director.

Spatial Media’s LIDAR Magazine (www.lidarmag.com) will assist the program by encouraging nominations and publishing pre and post-show analysis of finalists. Managing Editor Dr. Stewart Walker will assist a distinguished conference panel that will review and judge submissions on a variety of criteria.

Dr. Walker remarked: “We can all learn from the successes of others, especially in the complex, demanding and disparate world of LIDAR projects. Our goal is to bring their stories and formulae to the magazine, in attempt to aid readers in their own planning and decision-making.”
