USGIF Partners with Harris Geospatial Solutions to Offer Analysis Software for Scholarship Winners

USGIF has partnered with Organizational Member Harris Geospatial Solutions to grant 12-month student ENVI+IDL licenses to the 2017 USGIF scholarship recipients.

The ENVI+IDL license allows students access to Harris imagery analysis software, supporting their academic coursework and research while preparing them for careers in commercial, government, and defense organizations.

“Harris has a long history of supporting the academic community, and we are thrilled to be contributing ENVI+IDL licenses to the USGIF Scholarship winners,” said Robert Laudati, managing director of Harris Geospatial Solutions. “Our industry needs more bright minds to help tackle today’s biggest geospatial challenges, and with ENVI+IDL these students gain hands-on experience with the industry’s leading image science software for geospatial analytics. They will be able to answer the most difficult GEOINT questions—whether they arise in the classroom, in the lab, or later on the job.”

The 2017 USGIF scholarship winners were announced last week. Twenty-six students were awarded a total of $117,000 in scholarship funds. The USGIF Scholarship Program recognizes the achievements of graduating high school seniors as well as undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, and helps further the advancement of the GEOINT tradecraft. Since the USGIF Scholarship Program began in 2004, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.1 million in funds to students with aspirations in GEOINT.
