ARABSAT Selects Kratos’ End-to-End Network Management Solution To Scale Growing Satellite Ground Operations

SAN DIEGO – Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat), the leading satellite operator in the Middle East, has selected Compass®, Kratos’ end-to-end network management product, to support its expanding satellite fleet ground operations.

Compass network monitoring and control (M&C) will help Arabsat scale its international operations by automating, and more effectively managing, the network functions of its ground operations supporting its expanding fleet. Compass will be deployed at the company’s Teleports in Saudi Arabia and Tunis.

Compass’ flexibility offers Arabsat the opportunity to develop its own network procedures according to their operations concept. As Bruno Dupas, President of Kratos’ operation in France, which delivered the system to Arabsat, explains: “Optimization of network performance and capability to scale up the monitoring of ground assets were two of Arabsat’s key objectives. Compass will monitor all Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) and Carrier System Monitoring (CSM) earth stations of the Arabsat satellite fleet;”

Kratos will provide Arabsat with Skyminer, its big data storage and analytics engine, which will be used to archive all the data collected by Compass. Skyminer will eventually archive Arabsat’s Command and Control (C2) data as well, providing Arabsat overall system awareness and analytics capability from a single consolidated archive storage system.

Arabsat owns and operates eight state of-the-art satellites comprising the youngest satellite fleet with coverage across the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

According to Abdulhadi Alhassani, Director of Satellite Control at Arabsat: “Arabsat continuously strives to streamline and automate its operations with the objective of achieving the highest levels of reliability and QoS attainable in its ground and space systems.  Contracting Kratos, which is a world leader in E2E Satellite Ground Operation systems, has been an important milestone in this regards.”
