SkyWater Technology Foundry Executive to Speak at Sensors Expo

BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – SkyWater Technology Foundry announced that its Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Scott Nelson, will be a featured presenter at the annual Sensors Expo and Conference. Held on June 27-29, 2017 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., the Expo is the industry’s largest forum dedicated to sensors and sensor-integrated systems.

As part of the pre-conference symposium entitled “ IoT Lifestyle: Invisible Technology Moving in Your Home, Your Car, Your Office,” Nelson will explore how companies can leverage the benefits of 50 years of Moore’s Law in ways that capture the value data as opposed to the simple value of die and sensor hardware.

“The opportunity is not about getting to the next nanometer node, it’s about innovating with the technology in hand,” said Nelson. “Those who are innovating with edge devices are optimizing speed vs battery power, integrating sensors on chip to reduce cost and increase reliability, and adding security in ways that go beyond the simple sharing of keys. These innovators will generate the data that drives the IoT and therefore capture more of its value to both enterprises and consumers.”

In his presentation entitled “How to make More-than-Moore in the Internet of Things,” Nelson will explore how Moore’s Law – the driving force of our technology-centric lifestyle – has also helped unleash the Internet of Things (IoT) via 50 years of exponential cost and power reduction. From Nelson’s perspective, IoT product developers should be leveraging past milestones of Moore’s Law and the economics of big data to capture business value from the forecasted deployment of billions of devices and trillions of sensors at the edge of the IoT.
