Sanborn Expands Oblique Imagery Collection

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —  The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn), an industry leader in acquisition and processing of high-resolution oblique aerial imagery, announces the recent addition of 35 newly available oblique imagery datasets to its extensive oblique imagery inventory. In 2016, the firm collected more than 2.5 million new images, covering over 12,000 square miles. With these additions, Sanborn continues to develop one of the nation’s fastest growing high-res oblique imagery collections.

Sanborn offers its Oblique Imagery Solutions as a licensed product available with Sanborn Oblique Analyst® 2.0 and the firm’s cloud service, allowing customers to securely store, analyze and access their data. This complete package provides an end-to-end solution. Sanborn’s unique, liberal data licensing policy offers additional value for customers. This new 2016 data also is accessible on a pay-as-you-go basis through Sanborn’s new Mezurit.com subscription oblique imagery service.

“As our customers continue to recognize how oblique imagery can streamline workflows through greatly enhanced visualization and analysis of all types of infrastructure, Sanborn will have one of the nation’s most current and accurate oblique data sets ready for them,” says Jason Caldwell, Sanborn VP of business development and sales.

About Sanborn Oblique Imagery Technology

High-resolution Sanborn Oblique Imagery is created by using five aerial cameras to capture nadir (straight down) and four 45° oblique angle views. To ensure positional accuracy, images are acquired from aircraft equipped with GPS and inertial navigation systems, allowing Sanborn to aero-triangulate all five views. Imagery is then combined with elevation data to produce highly accurate, georeferenced oblique imagery datasets. Combined with rigorous Sanborn quality control measures, the results are the highest-quality oblique data available in today’s marketplace. For imagery acquisition, Sanborn utilizes the Track’Air MIDAS System (Multicamera Integrated Digital Acquisition System), known to combine reliability and consistent image quality with rapid collection capability. This ensures maximum performance and value for Sanborn’s oblique imagery customers.
