City of Tucker Launches New GIS Platform from InterDev

InterDev, an Atlanta-area provider of information technology, security and geographic information (GIS) services, today announced the City of Tucker has launched its new GIS platform and accompanying CITYMAP web application. The City’s GIS solution is powered by MosaicGIS™, InterDev’s secure, cloud-based GIS platform powered by Azure and Esri. With all systems thoroughly tested and operational, City management launched the application on its Facebook page October 10, 2016.

“With the State of Georgia recently announcing its concerted focus on a statewide GIS strategy, the launch of our own enterprise GIS environment and web app could not be better timed,” said Tucker Mayor Frank Auman. “Our citizens increasingly rely on digital technology, not only in their daily lives but also to help them engage with and interact with their City. We are confident that they will find this application, and our GIS system as a whole, very useful and convenient.”

Earlier this year, as part of a comprehensive technology services contract, the City selected InterDev to help the City plan, build, and maintain its best-practices GIS environment, interactive web application and focused web maps, all of which are now hosted on MosaicGIS. MosaicGIS runs on a software as a service (SaaS) model, enabling public and private organizations to enjoy the benefits of an enterprise-grade GIS system without the overhead or capital outlay.

“The value of GIS has long been recognized for urban planning, but it is now playing a vital role in helping cities increase services and information delivery, control costs, and become true partners with their residents and businesses,” said InterDev CEO Gary Nichols. “We are honored to help cities like Tucker gain access to cutting-edge GIS technologies while avoiding the need to build and maintain in-house platforms.”
