ideaForge Secures Orders from Survey of India for Q6 V2 UAVs to Support Mapping and Geospatial Applications

Mumbai: ideaForge Technology Limited has received an order from the Survey of India (SOI) for its Q6 V2 UAVs, further expanding the use of its indigenous UAV technology across specialised government applications. The UAVs will support SOI’s surveying and mapping requirements, enabling the collection of high-quality aerial and geospatial data across diverse terrains and project environments.

The growing use of UAVs is transforming how geospatial data is collected, processed, and used for planning and decision-making. By enabling aerial data collection across large and difficult-to-access areas, UAVs can complement conventional survey methods while improving the speed, coverage, and frequency of data collection and processing. This is particularly relevant for applications where current and accurate geospatial information is critical to planning, infrastructure development, land administration and public programmes.

The Q6 V2 is a survey-grade UAV designed to provide high-area coverage, enabling large-scale mapping projects to be completed faster and more efficiently. A high-endurance, lightweight, and VTOL-capable platform, the Q6 V2 is designed and developed entirely in India. Equipped with advanced Mapping payloads, autonomous navigation, and encrypted communications systems, it has rapid deployment capability in under 10 minutes. The quadcopter designed UAV has an endurance of 60 minutes, having an operational range of 5 km and a maximum takeoff weight of 6kg. The platform supports daylight, thermal, mapping, and multispectral payloads, offering flexibility across various kinds of survey requirements. Q6 V2 is field-proven across varied terrains, from high-altitude zones to flood-affected areas.

Speaking on the development, Somil Gautam, Associate Director – Enterprise Business, ideaForge Technology Ltd., said, “The adoption of UAVs in geospatial applications is creating a more efficient way to collect the aerial data that informs how we plan, develop, and manage our physical environment. Our engagement with the Survey of India reflects the growing relevance of indigenous UAV technology in specialised applications where reliable and timely data is important. At ideaForge, we are focused on building platforms that can deliver dependable performance across real-world operating environments, and we see significant potential for UAV-enabled mapping and geospatial intelligence across government and enterprise applications.”

The order adds to the use of ideaForge’s UAV technology in mapping and geospatial applications, in a field where aerial data collection is becoming a regular part of how surveys are planned and carried out. The company’s UAVs have already demonstrated their capabilities across a range of government and enterprise survey requirements, including large-scale deployments under the Government of India’s SVAMITVA Yojana and large-scale mapping. ideaForge looks forward to supporting Survey of India as it applies drone technology to its surveying and mapping needs, and to working with its teams as they put the platform to use.
