Latitude Spatial showcases UltraCam Merlin 5.0 in a new iFlyUltraCam video

Graz, Austria • August 19, 2026 — Vexcel Imaging is pleased to spotlight Latitude Spatial in a new iFlyUltraCam video, highlighting how the Australian aerial mapping company is using the UltraCam Merlin 5.0 to deliver efficient, high-quality spatial data across one of the world’s largest and most challenging mapping environments.

Latitude Spatial, which evolved from HyVista Corporation, combines a long history in airborne remote sensing with extensive experience operating UltraCam systems. After becoming the launch customer for the UltraCam Merlin 5.0 last year, Latitude Spatial is now sharing firsthand how the system is helping support its nationwide mapping operations.

“The Merlin 5.0 hits the mark of being cost-effective, reliable, and efficient. We do not have to fly as many flight lines as our competitors, which enables us to fly projects more efficiently and pass that value on to the end customer,” said Peter Cocks of Latitude Spatial.

The UltraCam Merlin 5.0 combines efficient aerial mapping performance with true nadir image quality for orthophoto and elevation data generation with the crisp detail and consistency customers expect from UltraCam aerial camera systems. “Once customers start looking at the imagery, they’ll know it’s UltraCam imagery,” Cocks said.

Latitude Spatial emphasized several advantages of the UltraCam Merlin 5.0 and UltraMap production workflow, including:

  • Superior near PAN-level image quality through a sophisticated optical system and True Pixel Processing (TPP) of Bayer-pattern imagery in UltraMap
  • True nadir imaging for high-quality orthophoto production
  • Flexible aerial survey planning with user-exchangeable 90 mm, 120 mm, and 150 mm lenses
  • Adaptive Motion Compensation (AMC) in all axes for blur-free imagery, even in turbulent flight conditions
  • Reduced re-flight risk, improving aircraft utilization and project capacity
  • Compact, 16 TB and 32 TB data units for easier data handling and transport
  • Scalable UltraMap processing with distributed workflows for high-volume production

Latitude Spatial produces orthophotos and elevation products such as DSMs and DTMs, serving customers who require dependable, mission-critical mapping outputs. With UltraMap’s modular design and distributed processing capabilities, the company can efficiently scale production to support large government and commercial contracts.

The new iFlyUltraCam video underscores the strong collaboration between Vexcel Imaging and Latitude Spatial, and demonstrates how the UltraCam Merlin 5.0 is helping forward-thinking mapping firms expand capacity, reduce operational risk, and deliver premium geospatial products.
