Des Plaines, IL – The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) is pleased to share that 195 geospatial professionals have earned the GIS Professional (GISP®) certification as a result of the June 2026 GISCI Geospatial Core Technical Knowledge Exam®.
Earning the GISP® credential reflects a significant professional achievement, recognizing individuals who have not only passed a rigorous technical exam but also demonstrated at least four years of full-time geospatial work experience and documented accomplishments in education, professional practice, and service to the profession.
434 candidates participated in the June 2026 exam window with a pass rate of 71 percent, which was a three-point improvement from the December 2025 exam period. Candidates who successfully passed the June 2026 exam are eligible to earn the GISP® credential upon completion and approval of their portfolio submissions.
“Congratulations to our newest GISPs on reaching this important professional milestone,” said Tony Spicci, Executive Director of GISCI. “Earning the GISP ® credential demonstrates a commitment to technical excellence, ethical practice, and continued professional growth. We are proud to welcome these professionals into the growing community of GISPs around the world.”
The GISCI Geospatial Core Technical Knowledge Exam® is offered in June and December each year and evaluates competency across ten core areas of geospatial knowledge.
