USGIF Announces 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Herndon, Virginia —The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), is pleased to announce that GEOINT community icon Stu Shea will be awarded the 2021 Arthur C. Lundahl-Thomas C. Finnie Lifetime Achievement Award at the USGIF annual GEOGala, Dec. 3. Stu has nearly four decades serving both government and industry in the intelligence, defense, aerospace and government services markets.  His energy, customer focus and dedication of his life’s work to the tradecraft of mapping, charting and geodesy (MC&G), imagery analysis, and intelligence make him the deserving candidate of this prestigious award. Stu currently serves as the CEO of Peraton, where he leads the company’s strategic direction, and drives the company’s performance and culture through his vision and guidance.  Stu is also a founder of USGIF and the highly acclaimed GEOINT Symposium. He serves on several industry, government, and academic advisory boards.

“This award recognizes Stu’s singular contribution and undying commitment to the geospatial intelligence community,” said Robert Cardillo, chairman of the USGIF Board of Directors.  “Since the start of his career as a software engineer designing computer mapping capabilities in 1982 until today, Stu has been an exemplary leader in our community, advancing the GEOINT tradecraft, and accelerating innovative new capabilities and approaches. Put simply, he is not only a founder of USGIF—he’s also the model of the Foundation’s mission.”

This prestigious award was named for Arthur C. Lundahl and Thomas C. Finnie, honoring their accomplishments—in imagery analysis and mapping, respectively—and their legacies within the GEOINT Community.

USGIF is excited to host this year’s GEOGala on Friday, December 3rd in Reston VA with a modified format from previous years to enable increased professional networking opportunities as we reunite in person. Sponsorship and table opportunities are now available. Join us as we bring together leaders from across the Defense, Intelligence, and Homeland Security sectors for a night of celebration and fun.
