Maximizing the Co-benefits of REDD-Plus Actions

Participants exchanged views and experience on how ICI projects contribute to national strategies to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD-plus) and how such activities enhance co-benefits and integrate safeguards. The Workshop raised issues on how to enhance REDD-Plus co-benefits and how to ensure safeguards during implementation of related activities. Key Messages from the Workshop were sent to the REDD+ Partnership Meeting in Panama, end of September.

The Workshop Report and a Discussion paper on “Maximizing the Co-benefits of REDD-plus Actions” can now be found at http://www.bmu-klimaschutzinitiative.de/en/press?p=1&d=262

The workshop results are a joint contribution of the BMU International Climate Initiative and DENR Philippines to exchange of knowledge and the process of learning under the REDD-Plus Partnership. Its results may also be used as an input to the international discussion on REDD-Plus co-benefits and safeguards during the UNFCCC COP 17 in Durban.
