GeoBase Team Wins AFIMSC Team of the Year Award

The AFCEC GIO team is comprised of more than 50 geospatial professionals, most of whom work at Woolpert.

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas  — The Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Geospatial Integration Office (GIO) GeoBase team was honored this month with the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) Team of the Year Award.

GeoBase is the U.S. Air Force Installation Geospatial Information and Services Program. The team comprises more than 50 geospatial professionals, including 34 from Woolpert. Woolpert also participates in every GeoBase program in the continental United States and has over 60 employees contributing to the GeoBase Program that earned this award.

The AFIMSC Team of the Year Award is given to the team that exemplifies teamwork, collaboration and an Air Force enterprise-wide view. Recipients should exhibit an innovative, cross-functional perspective that develops and pursues creative operating concepts, while maximizing resources. The team honored also must demonstrate a warfighter ethos, provide combat power, show empowerment and courage, and be a recognized leader in developing novel capabilities and responsiveness.

“Woolpert is sincerely privileged to have the trust and confidence of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center to assist them in realizing the U.S. Air Force GeoBase vision of ‘One Base … One Map,’” said retired USAF Col. Brian Cullis, a senior consultant at Woolpert. “More importantly, this award would not have been possible without the daily commitment of Air Force GeoBase government personnel at installations around the world who work so hard to make a difference for the Civil Engineer and Air Force missions through the use of geospatial information technologies.”

GeoBase was chosen to represent the AFCEC after winning the AFCEC’s annual Team Award in January. The AFIMSC Team of the Year Award was presented by Maj. Gen. Tom Wilcox, AFIMSC commander.
