Seismic Data and Workshop for the Capricorn Survey, Western Australia

The Capricorn deep crustal seismic survey was acquired in 2010 and extends almost 600km from the Pilbara Craton, across the Hammersley Basin and the Capricorn Orogen, to the Yilgran Craton in Western Australia. This survey was a collaborative project between Geoscience Australia, AuScope, and the Geological Survey of Western Australia. Funding came from Geoscience Australia’s Onshore Energy Security Program, AuScope Earth Imaging and Western Australia’s Royalties for Regions Exploration Incentive Scheme. The survey consists of three traverses with a total length of 581km. These seismic and gravity data aim to image the extent of the Archean crust beneath the Capricorn Orgeny and identify the relationship between the Pilbara and Yilgarn cratons. The processed SEG Y data, TIFF images, location information, and gravity data are available as a free download.
