Two New Releases of Automated Utility Design Available

San Diego, CA – Spatial Business Systems (SBS) announces the availability of two new releases of their Automated Utility Design™ (AUD) product at the DistribuTECH Conference in San Diego. AUD is a new SBS offering based on the strategic alliance between SBS and Autodesk that was announced October 3, 2016. Through the alliance, SBS is now responsible for future development, support and licensing of the AutoCAD Utility Design software.

AUD now has a new naming convention. Previous releases were based on calendar years. The new version, initially announced as AUD 2018, is now named AUD 7. AUD 7 is a plug-in version of the AutoCAD Utility Design 2017 product and runs on the AutoCAD Map3D platform. Existing AUD 2017 users can move to AUD 7 with no functional changes to their existing AUD environment.

SBS also announces AUD Version 7+, which is an enhanced version of AUD 7. AUD 7+ reflects several enhancements to the usability and performance of AUD. Highlights of AUD 7+ new capabilities include:
• Performance improvements in selection, validation and material list management functions.
• New operating behavior for auto-validation functions which minimizes re-calculations and significantly improves overall placement performance and job throughput
• Numerous usability improvements including placement and expansion of schematic elements, model selection and feature and sub-feature creation
• Reduced implementation costs with the Structured Management of AUD Requirements Tool (SMART). The AUD SMART implementation tools and processes significantly streamline AUD implementation for both large and small utility organizations.

AUD 7 and the AUD 7+ Beta are both available for customer download on February 1, 2017.

Additional enhancements to AUD are underway. Existing and prospective AUD customers are encouraged to join the SBS Peer Utility Group to provide their input to the product planning process. Further information on how to join the Peer Utility Group can be found at http://www.spatialbiz.com/peer-utility-group.html.
