Esri Offering GSDI 15 Workshop on “Platform for Building Safe and Resilient Communities”

The 15th Global Spatial Data Infrastructure World Conference (GSDI 15) is being held in Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China) from 29 November to 2 December 2016, hosted by the Taiwan Association of Disaster Prevention Industry (TADPI), with strong support from Ministry of the Interior. With the theme “Spatial Enablement in the Smart Homeland,” GSDI 15 will showcase strategies, policies, and best-practices that are driving collaboration and interoperability with respect to data collection and acquisition, integration, discovery, visualization, and analysis.

Esri has joined GSDI 15 as a Silver Sponsor and will be offering a workshop on “A Platform for Building Safe and Resilient Communities.” When a disaster strikes, knowing what you need and how to find it can be the key factor that saves lives, resources, and critical infrastructure. Limited data sharing between departments and agencies can be disastrous in an emergency situation. The workshop will demonstrate how to minimize the impact of an emergency by connecting people to the data and resources they need. Participants will see how WebGIS can enable the sharing of critical information both within and across organizations, enabling effective and controlled collaboration – empowering everyone to make faster and better decisions. Putting accurate, up-to-the-minute data into the hands of the people who need it most will enabling communities to better, Predict, Prepare and Respond.

At GSDI 15, Dr Winnie Tang, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong) Limited, will give a keynote talk on ‘Building Spatial Data Infrastructure for Smart City’. Esri’s software has become a system of engagement that enables people worldwide and across multiple sectors to discover, use, make, and share maps from any device. Dr. Tang’s keynote talk will consider the implications of how technology is evolving and enabling organizations to make better, informed decisions.

Esri is a founding member and strong supporter of the GSDI Association and also has supported many SDI implementations at regional, national, and global scales across the world.

More information about sponsoring or attending conference, including participating in the Esri workshop, can be found at the GSDI 15 website at http://gsdi15.org.tw/ or contact: [email protected] or [email protected].
