International GIS Day, created by Esri Inc. in 1999 as part of Geography Awareness Week, is an annual event that celebrates and promotes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its associated spatial technologies

Brisbane’s GIS Day events, created by GIS People, are the largest in the world! Bringing people together from across Australia – government, professionals, businesses, uni students and everyone in between – it is an awesome event that connects the geospatial industry to potential or existing users and clients.

This year, Brisbane GIS Day also runs the day after the International Map Industry Association (IMIA) Asia Pacific Conference, creating an epic 3-day geospatial event celebrating International Map Year!
