NV5’s Geo Sessions to Spotlight Breakthroughs Shaping the Future of Geospatial Technology

October 14-15 virtual event delivers fresh insight into emerging techniques and real‑world breakthroughs across SAR, lidar, hyperspectral analytics and AI

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., September 29, 2026 – NV5, a TiC Solutions company and leading provider of geospatial software and services, will host Geo Sessions, a two‑day virtual briefing series delivering fresh insight into the technologies reshaping geospatial operations, from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and lidar to hyperspectral analytics and artificial intelligence. The October 14-15 sessions will spotlight emerging techniques, operational breakthroughs and real‑world applications driving the next wave of geospatial capability.

WHAT:         Geo Sessions, an online thought leadership series

WHEN:        October 14-15, 2026

9 a.m. ET to 12:30 p.m. ET

DETAILS:    Geo Sessions attendees will hear directly from subject‑matter experts from public agencies, academia and industry on the techniques, trends and technologies shaping the future of geospatial analysis. The four tracks across two days include:

SAR Track – Wednesday, October 14, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Infrastructure Monitoring with SAR

SAR offers unparalleled insight into the Earth’s surface with the unique ability to penetrate clouds and smoke, acquire data day and night, and monitor millimeter-scale changes over broad areas. Speakers from  EFTAS Fernerkundung Technologietransfer GmbH, ICEYE, sarmap and University of Rome will discuss how SAR can fill critical gaps left by other sensors to strengthen risk, maintenance and resilience workflows.

When Data Isn’t There: SAR Opportunities and Access Constraints in Commercial EO

This session, featuring a geospatial intelligence expert from Shell, will provide a commercial perspective on how SAR supports exploration, environmental compliance, spill detection and operational planning when optical data is unavailable. He also will examine commercial access challenges – from tasking limits to security‑driven restrictions in conflict-affected regions – that may constrain data when it’s needed most.

Lidar Track – Wednesday, October 14, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Augmenting Lidar Insights with Multi-Sensory Capture

This panel, featuring speakers from NV5, Airborne Snow Observatories, NOAA, and Hexagon, will focus on how lidar analysis can be combined with other sensors to solve specific problems that lidar alone can only partially solve. This includes looking at new sensor technology that combines lidar with spectral sensors, the combination of hyperspectral imagery with lidar for snow water estimation and the combination of lidar with sonar for bathymetry.

Laser Vision for a Greener Detroit: How Lidar Is Rebuilding the Urban Forest

Detroit’s lidar‑driven tree census provides a complete, wall‑to‑wall view of canopy health, diversity and planting opportunity across public and private land. Speakers from the City of Detroit and The Nature Conservancy will detail how this dataset is transforming urban forestry strategy, climate resilience planning and community engagement

Spectral Track – Thursday, October 15, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Unlocking Insights: How to Solve Real‑World Problems with Hyperspectral Data

Speakers from EarthDaily Federal, Global Marketing Insights Inc., Orbital Sidekick (OSK) and Pixxel will break down what it takes to transform hyperspectral data into measurable scientific, commercial and societal outcomes. They also discuss how non‑experts can extract actionable intelligence from spectral data.

Multi‑Sensor Magic: What Happens When Hyperspectral Meets SAR

Hear from an ecologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) about how the agency and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) use Sentinel SAR and Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) hyperspectral imagery to improve vegetation classification accuracy in challenging rangeland environments. The session highlights how multi-sensor fusion strengthens ecological monitoring, restoration planning and long‑term land‑management decisions.

AI Track – Thursday, October 15, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

How to Operationalize and Extract Benefits from GeoAI

Speakers from Defence Data Research Centre (DDRC), Esri, Planet and UST will outline how organizations can move from isolated AI usage to fully operational GeoAI pipelines. The discussion will focus on workflow orchestration and enterprise‑scale deployment that accelerates time to insight.

The Age of GeoAgents

This session explores the strategic evolution from isolated machine learning experiments to proactive, operational GeoAI. Attendees will hear from a product manager at Trimble about how AI can autonomously orchestrate multi-sensor data, perform spatial reasoning and dispatch field crews in seconds.

Registration is required. Visit the Geo Sessions website to reserve your spot.
