New surveying system represents leap forward in field technology to maximize daily output and solve common challenges with confidence
MUNICH and WESTMINSTER, Colo., Sept. 15, 2026 — Trimble today announced the launch of the Trimble® ST30 smart target, a new-generation surveying system. This system breaks new ground by integrating optical and subscription-based GNSS functionality into a single smart target solution. Setting a new standard for traceability, redundancy, versatility and safety, the ST30 introduces key innovations, including tilt compensation and automatic rod height measurements. It is the first smart target on the market to offer fully integrated, high-accuracy GNSS functionality, giving surveyors a dual-use tool for both optical and GNSS applications to help make surveying more efficient and safer than ever before.

The Trimble ST30 smart target will be showcased during INTERGEO 2026, Sept. 15-17, 2026, in Munich, Germany, at the Trimble booth in Hall B6.
The ST30 is designed for a wide variety of surveying and construction tasks, including topographic surveys, stakeout, as-built verification and cadastral work. It integrates with Trimble’s field, office and cloud software solutions to provide trustworthy and traceable accuracy and to enhance the integrity of collected data. These integrations include the Trimble S-, RTS- or SPS-series of robotic total stations, Trimble Access, Trimble Siteworks, Trimble FieldLink field software, Trimble Business Center office software and Trimble Connect® common data environment.
“The Trimble ST30 smart target enhances what’s possible from a surveying system. It delivers a transformative field experience by ensuring uninterrupted productivity and accuracy with robust, reliable total station tracking,” said Boris Skopljak, senior vice president, geospatial at Trimble. “With optical and GNSS tilt compensation, automated rod height and integrated GNSS, users can reduce costly errors and work safely in more hard-to-access areas.”
The ST30 smart target features an integrated design that unifies the 360-degree prism, IMU, GNSS receiver and automated rod height functionality into a single device. Constructed with ultra-rugged magnesium and aluminum, a protective top bumper and shielded LEDs, it is engineered for resilience against the daily rigors of challenging job sites, including wet conditions. Features include:
“The ST30’s rugged design and automated features increase confidence on the job and reduce the potential for human error, which is particularly beneficial for an industry facing increased complexity, shorter deadlines and tighter tolerances,” said Scott Crozier, senior vice president, civil construction at Trimble.
Availability
The Trimble ST30 smart target will be available to order through Trimble’s global network of dealers in Q4 2026. Users may also purchase a Trimble Protected Plus+ hardware protection plan to provide additional coverage against wear and tear, environmental damage and more.
