A new benchmark – sub-centimeter aerial mapping at aircraft speeds without compromises

Copenhagen, Denmark – February, 3rd 2026 – Phase One is proud to announce the iXM-FS130, a next-generation aerial mapping camera designed to unlock sub-centimeter ground sample distance (GSD) missions from a fixed-wing aircraft. Built on the proven iXM platform and introducing Phase One’s patented Fusion Shutter™ technology, iXM-FS130 enables new mission profiles while protecting existing customer investments and workflows.

Designed for fixed-wing aircraft operations, demanding operators, and high-value geospatial applications, iXM-FS130 sets a new performance benchmark for large-scale aerial mapping, corridor inspection, and defense-grade imaging.

Capture sub-centimeter missions – without slowing down

The iXM-FS130 enables reliable 1 cm GSD image capture at airspeeds exceeding 120 knots, allowing operators to cover more area per flight and complete missions previously constrained by motion blur, overlap requirements, or re-flight risk. By combining extreme shutter speeds with motion-free imaging, iXM-FS130 delivers significantly higher throughput while reducing total flight hours and operational cost.

Motion-free imaging at extreme speed

At the core of iXM-FS130 is Fusion Shutter™ technology, Phase One’s patented combination of an electronic global shutter sensor and a mechanical leaf shutter. This unique approach eliminates parasitic light sensitivity (PLS) effects at extreme shutter speeds, ensuring clean, artifact-free images even under challenging lighting and high-contrast conditions.

The result is consistent, high-fidelity data capture in a single pass — reducing weather dependency, mission risk, and the need for costly re-flights.

Designed to handle the high data volumes of 1 cm GSD while keeping storage and processing efficient

iXM-FS130 supports Phase One’s IIQ-X image compression format, delivering dramatically reduced file sizes while preserving full radiometric and geometric image quality. Optimized for high-volume operations, IIQ-X accelerates data transfer, processing, and delivery without compromising precision — enabling faster time from flight to final deliverables.

Protecting investments, enabling new missions

Built on the established iXM platform, iXM-FS130 is fully compatible with the extensive RS and RSM lens ecosystem, offering focal lengths from 35 mm to 300 mm. This ensures a seamless upgrade path for existing Phase One customers, allowing operators and OEMs to unlock new performance levels.

From large-area mapping and urban 3D modeling to corridor inspection and defense applications, iXM-FS130 is designed to scale across mission types while extending the value of existing system investments.

“With iXM-FS130, we are removing long-standing tradeoffs between speed, resolution, and image integrity,” said Thomas Allin, Chief Technical Officer at Phase One. “By introducing Fusion Shutter™ technology and enabling sub-centimeter GSD at high aircraft speeds, we are opening the door to new aerial imaging capabilities while ensuring our customers can build on the investments they have already made.”

Proven in operation with IGI CM-1

The iXM-FS130 is already operational as part of the IGI CM-1 aerial mapping system, delivering validated performance in real-world flight operations. Integrated with IGI’s CCNS-5 Flight Management system, AEROcontrol GNSS/IMU, and stabilized mount technology, the CM-1 system demonstrates reliable 1 cm GSD image capture at high aircraft speeds, supported by production-ready workflows and guided processing.

“With CM-1, we have a fully operational system that proves what iXM-FS130 enables in practice,” said Philip Grimm, Managing Director at IGI. “The combination of Fusion Shutter™ technology, high-speed image capture, and tight system integration allows operators to fly fast, maintain image integrity, and execute complex missions with confidence. This is not a concept — it is a production-ready solution.”

iXM-FS130 will be showcased at GeoWeek 2026, with global availability commencing shortly after.
