KROHNE Ensures Reliable Cooling Performance with OPTIFLUX and OPTISONIC Flow Technologies for Data Centers

OPTIFLUX and OPTISONIC flowmeters with certified OPTICHECK diagnostics deliver accurate, reliable, and rapid flow measurement for energy-efficient data center cooling.

Beverly, MA:  KROHNE, a leading provider of industrial process instrumentation, has expanded its flow technologies for data centers with its OPTIFLUX electromagnetic and OPTISONIC ultrasonic flowmeters designed to maximize cooling availability, optimize system efficiency and enhance reporting in modern data center environments. As data centers drive global connectivity and digital transformation, these flow technologies provide the precise, stable flow measurement needed to control cooling water and other energy streams, helping operators maintain high availability while advancing their sustainability and energy transparency goals.

The OPTIFLUX 2000 electromagnetic flowmeter delivers reliable, bi-directional flow measurement across a wide dynamic range making it well suited for chilled water and glycol-based cooling circuits commonly found in data centers. With chemically resistant polypropylene or hard rubber liners, no moving parts and a full-bore design, it provides long service life without pressure loss, even in applications involving low-concentrated chemicals. With measurement accuracy to ±0.3% of measured value, combined with diagnostics for conductivity, electrode error and process and ambient temperature this device supports consistent performance in demanding cooling applications.

When conductivity is too low,  KROHNE’s OPTISONIC inline and clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters offer high accuracy, long-term stability and insensitivity to magnetite, ensuring reliable measurement even where traditional technologies may drift over time. OPTISONIC clamp-on versions enable cost-effective, non-invasive installation on existing pipework, with no minimum conductivity requirement, making them ideal for retrofits or installations on non-conductive media in data center cooling systems. A wide turndown range and comprehensive diagnostics help operators maintain tight control over flow conditions, supporting efficient, resilient operation of critical cooling infrastructure.

A defining advantage of KROHNE’s data center flow portfolio is the integration of comprehensive diagnostics via OPTICHECK, including MID-MI-004 certified versions that support rigorous verification and compliance requirements in energy and cooling measurement. OPTICHECK enables on-site verification of OPTIFLUX, OPTISONIC, and other devices without process interruption, providing detailed diagnostic data and documentation to support asset management and quality assurance programs. With embedded and service-tool-based verification options, operators can regularly confirm meter performance, reduce the risk of undetected measurement drift and support predictive maintenance strategies in mission-critical data center environments.

KROHNE further differentiates its flow technologies for data centers with quick delivery and strong product availability, helping engineering teams and operators meet aggressive project schedules and expansion timelines. With a broad portfolio of electromagnetic and ultrasonic flowmeters, backed by global application expertise and planning tools that simplify specification and selection, KROHNE ensures that customers receive the right measurement solution, on time and ready for integration into their data center cooling systems.
