Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service benefits from integrated GIS technology

Cadcorp GIS selected for public safety and operational efficiency improvements

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) has selected the Cadcorp Geographic Information System (GIS) to expand operational capabilities and resource management efficiency. The contract includes Cadcorp Workload Modeller, Cadcorp SIS Desktop, Cadcorp SIS WebMap, Cadcorp SIS WebMap for Power BI, and associated application training.

Workload Modeller is a strategic planning application used by fire services to carry out resource analysis and support Community Risk Management Plans (CRMPs). The software’s close integration with SIS Desktop allows analysis to be carried out within the context of location. HIWFRS are using the software to undertake advanced scenario modelling and applying it to a range of initiatives. These include groundbreaking on-call recruitment modelling and successful collaboration with local police analysing vehicle arson patterns.

SIS WebMap, a browser-based application for sharing geographic information with internal and external stakeholders, provides HIWFRS with the capability to disseminate analysis to a wide-ranging audience.  Adding SIS WebMap for Power BI allows users to embed an interactive Ordnance Survey® map into Microsoft Power BI to gain greater insight into data. This provides HIWFRS with a robust platform for analysing and mapping emergency response data that informs both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.

Antony Merriman, Senior Analyst at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service commented: “We selected Cadcorp when looking for a system that could support us in advancing our public safety and operational capabilities.  In making our decision, we considered a number of factors including value for money, system compatibility and capability.”

Cadcorp SIS is used by a majority of UK Fire Services for a wide range of GIS and web mapping applications. The software is instrumental in strategic and operational activities such as resource planning and performance reporting, risk analysis, and command and control.
