Woolpert Welcomes Strategic Consulting Leader Scott Yates as Director of Digital Transformation

Yates will apply his business and technology experience to advance asset life cycle data management.

PETERSBURG, Fla.  — Scott Yates, an experienced technology consultant and a leader in facilities management, asset management and business operations, was hired by Woolpert to serve as its director of digital transformation. Yates will join the firm’s strategic consulting team, which is made up of veteran thought leaders from across multiple industries.

Yates has built a career in business process consulting, technology and software solutions, specializing in enterprise asset management programs across multiple market verticals. Over roughly a dozen years, due to his ability to cost-effectively advance client projects and drive growth, Yates rose from business analyst to consulting manager to vice president of operations to chief operating officer.

Yates said he came to Woolpert because of a shared mission to intelligently integrate technology with the built environment to benefit all involved.

“There is a high bar for industry talent and knowledge sharing here that takes me a step beyond my previous realm,” he said. “Woolpert wants to bring innovative technology to our customers in a way that simplifies and improves service delivery and adds value not complexity. We are aligned in our belief that enterprise asset management begins in the design phase of the asset life cycle and that the asset management systems of the future are geospatial-based, mobile-enabled and connected to smart assets.”

Yates will be working out of Woolpert’s office in the St. Petersburg Innovation District, where his data and technology background can flourish. His crusade over the last three years was to improve the flow of data through the entire life cycle of facilities and systems even before design and construction decisions are made. He said that advancing geospatial technologies, including building information modeling and digital twins, are integral to this approach.

“These technologies provide a critical toolset for customers to optimally manage assets and operations, helping them connect the dots from planning through execution,” Yates said. “The next step is to produce solutions that bridge the gap between virtual design and construction and traditional enterprise asset management systems to seamlessly support the entire asset life cycle”

Woolpert Vice President Eric Dillinger said Yates’ background, strategy and vision will help Woolpert advance.

“Scott helped build a strategic consulting business from the ground up, so he is familiar with addressing all levels of the process from the perspective of a variety of clients,” Dillinger said. “His ability to align the latest technology solutions with real-world client need is invaluable. We are extremely happy that he joined our team.”
