NV5 Geospatial’s Michael Shillenn Elected to MAPPS Board of Directors

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Michael B. Shillenn,CP, ASPRS senior account manager for NV5 Geospatial has been elected to serve on the board of MAPPS, the preeminent national association of private sector firms in the geospatial profession. His appointment to a two-year term was announced during the MAPPS Summer 2021 Conference, held in Asheville, N.C.

 

“MAPPS has afforded me countless occasions to engage in business networking, develop partnerships and teaming strategies, shape and advocate geospatial policy and legislation, and learn about federal geospatial programs and the latest innovations and technology trends in our sector,” Shillenn said. “I look forward to working with MAPPS leadership as we continue to advance the vision and goals of the association into the future.”

 

Active with the MAPPS for 15 years, Shillenn currently serves as the association’s U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) liaison. He is a frequent presenter at MAPPS events, leading USGS Agency Briefings and presenting on unique projects completed for the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP), among other topics. Shillenn was active with the Pennsylvania Chapter of MAPPS, having served as founding director, past president, past vice president and on its board of directors, and won the MAPPS 2010 President’s Award for his leadership in establishing a Geospatial Advisory Council in the state of Pennsylvania. 

 

Shillenn has more than 33 years of experience in designing, managing, and executing photogrammetric mapping, GIS, and data conversion projects for a broad range of customers and end-user applications.
