Maptitude Team Provides Sponsorship for 2020 FSU Geospatial Awareness Week

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) – Last year, in concert with the National Geography Awareness Week and GIS Day, the Geospatial Science and GEOINT programs at Fayetteville State University (North Carolina) celebrated the 4th Geospatial Awareness Week 2020 (4th GeoWeek 2020) during the first week of November 2020, on Monday (11/2) through Friday (11/6). Due to the pandemic, most activities of the event were conducted virtually with recorded videos available from the event’s website. There were also two drone demonstrations taking place in the field on Strickland Bridge Road in Fayetteville.

The FSU 4th GeoWeek 2020 featured three geospatial keynotes, two geospatial career and application presentation sessions, a GEOINT panel discussion, a student oral presentation/competition session, two drone demonstrations, a geospatial training session, and the FSU Geospatial Alumni meeting. The event presented three undergraduate student awards and a graduate student award for their excellent oral presentations of geospatial research.

The Maptitude mapping software team is proud to have provided the donation for the event. The sponsorship helps FSU by supporting an event that will raise awareness of spatial thinking and enhance geography literacy, providing the geospatial skills that are increasingly in demand during the globalization and information era.
