Woolpert CEO Scott Cattran to Discuss Technology Strategies, Innovation at AEC Virtual Chief Executive Summit Today

Cattran will discuss the evolution of Woolpert’s digital strategies and will evaluate innovative digital ideas being considered in the AEC industry as a guest ‘shark.’

DAYTON, Ohio  — Woolpert President and CEO Scott Cattran is scheduled to speak on “Digital & Technology Strategies & ‘Shark Tank 2.0’” from noon to 2 p.m. EST today, Nov. 5, at the AEC Advisors’ 2020 Chief Executive Summit. Cattran is among the CEOs and presidents who have been asked to take part in one of six virtual sessions over three weeks, spotlighting the latest key metrics, trends and strategies in the architecture, engineering and consulting (AEC) industry.

As part of this event, these leaders will examine key performance indicators and innovations from more than 240 AEC firms that represent more than $140 billion in combined annual revenue, including about 70 of Engineering News-Record’s top 100 design firms.

Woolpert is the only firm on the annual ENR Top 500 Design Firms list and the ENR Top 150 Global Design Firms list that is designated as architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG or AE/GE). The firm ranked 72nd and 137th, respectively, on these lists for 2020. The firm also ascended to 13th on the 2020 Zweig Hot Firm List and recently earned it’s fifth-straight Great Place to Work certification.

During the panel discussion, Cattran will share the evolution of Woolpert’s digital strategies and the firm’s acquisition tech focus. He will delve into the storied history of how Woolpert began over a century ago as an engineering and surveying firm, has been at the forefront of geospatial innovation for 50-plus years and how tech is now entrenched in all that the firm does. Cattran will describe how leading-edge technology is a big part of Woolpert’s future, “as it delivers value to clients and drives company performance.”

Cattran also will vote on innovative digital ideas being considered in the AEC industry during the “Shark Tank 2.0” segment of the session. He said he will be well prepared to vote on innovative ideas since he has been helping judge the firm’s inaugural internal “Shark Tank” competition, known as the “Woolpert Innovation Challenge.”

“Competition is a great motivator, and it has been awesome to see so many outstanding in-house ideas come forward, just as it will be exciting to see what these AEC firms have to offer,” Cattran said. “I’m excited to be part of this summit and to help contribute to a highly collaborative and innovative future.”
