NAVGEOKOM Kamchatka Network of Base Stations to Monitor Crustal Movements

The project is creating a network of continuously operating reference stations is realized on the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky). The supply of satellite equipment and training specialists from the Institute carried out the Project office NAVGEOKOM.

” Equipping the Institute of ten sets of advanced continuously operating reference stations Leica GR10 , including with AR25 Choke Ring antennas , will bring a regional monitoring network of Kamchatka to the next level. We look forward to continuing cooperation with the Institute and in the future “, – said Sergey Vanin, Project Director of the company NAVGEOKOM.

Work on the study of contemporary movements of the crust (SDZK) conducted on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the 70s of last century. For this purpose, in areas of high volcanic activity (Karymsky, Tolbachik Klyuchevsky Avachinisky, Ksudach), as well as in Kamchatka seismic zones have been established R & D landfills. To determine the parameters SDZK in different years used different equipment: svetodalnomery, refractometers, theodolites, well deformometer, etc. Since the mid-1990s, it became possible to use the equipment for this purpose satellite positioning GPS, and now – and the GLONASS / GPS, which allows measurements with high accuracy and reliability.
