Leica Geosystems, Zoomlion integrate machine control solutions to advance heavy construction industry

(HEERBRUGG, SWITZERLAND) – Leica Geosystems, a Hexagon company, announced today it is entering into a working relationship with Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of major high-tech equipment in the areas of engineering and agricultural industry, to develop integrated 2D and 3D machine control and guidance systems.

The relationship will begin with supporting the Zoomlion Badger 215G excavator with Leica Geosystems machine control solutions for excavator guidance. Furthering the digitalisation of construction and connecting more machines onsite for seamless workflows, the new technology enables the excavator to interface within a 2D or 3D environment.

“We are honoured to bring Zoomlion customers more options in their machine control strategy with this newest integration,” said Leica Geosystems Machine Control President Magnus Thibblin. “Working with OEMs from all around the world, like Zoomlion, we are dedicated to advancing the profession and the professional of heavy construction.”

Complete control for excavators

With the Leica iCON excavator system, high precision GPS monitors the excavation position with a 3D model. The Leica iCON iXE3 is used for point collection and stake out activities on projects, such as large road and infrastructure construction, subdivision building, industrial sites and dereliction works. The built-in GSM modem quickly supports and transfers files while the 3D system enables detailed monitoring of any site project.

“Zoomlion is excited to be partnering with a company that is at the forefront of this emerging technology,” said Senior Manager Paul Haines, Zoomlion North America R&D.“The combination of Lecia’s control and guidance systems, along with Zoomlion’s rugged dependability, shows our commitment to being a class leader in this market segment.”
