UPNG and NEFC Geobooks

The Remote Sensing Centre, in partnership with the National Fiscal and Economic Commission (NEFC) has created GIS-based planning tools – or ‘Geobooks’, that are expressly designed for use by Provincial Governments. Geobook is a stand-alone windows based application. In essence it is a customisable data distribution tool. It uses a book-like format presenting GIS information as pages which are logically organised as chapters. Users can easily flip through the pages of the book to access images, maps and supporting content. Besides displaying static data, the Geobook is equipped with dynamic data manipulation capabilities, enabling users to explore the imagery, GIS and information content. Their main use is in presenting and using GIS data. Geobooks have been produced for each Province or 19 GEOBOOKS in total. They are each several hundred Mb in size. Installation instructions are contained within the zip file. Read More
