Geoscience Australia has released Geoscience Australia Record 2011/34, An assessment of the uranium and geothermal prospectivity of east-central South Australia. The report presents an assessment of the uranium and geothermal energy prospectivity of east-central South Australia using a GIS-based geosystems approach, utilising regional datasets, including geophysical, geological, geochemical and aquifer data. Uranium systems considered include sandstone-hosted, iron-oxide copper-gold-uranium, unconformity-related and sediment-hosted copper-uranium. Both hot-rock and hot sedimentary aquifer geothermal systems were considered. The analysis highlights known prospective districts as well as new areas, including extensions of known districts under cover. The report is available as a free download.
