Map of the Month: Brick-and-mortar retail turnover, Europe 2019

GfK’s Map of the Month for August illustrates the forecasted growth rates for brick-and-mortar retail turnover in Europe in 2019.

According to GfK’s latest retail study, nominal turnover growth of +2.0% is anticipated for the EU-27 nations (excludes the United Kingdom) in 2019. The highest growth rates are expected for Romania (+7.0%), Lithuania (+5.9%) and Latvia (+4.9%). At the other end of the spectrum are the Netherlands (+0.5%), Denmark (+0.7%) and Germany (+0.8%). Contributing factors to these predictions are the dynamic growth of online retail and a dampened consumer climate, among others.
