Map of the Month: Sales Area Productivity, Europe 2018

GfK’s Map of the Month for June illustrates sales area productivity (retail turnover per m2) in Europe in 2018.

According to GfK’s latest retail study, the unchallenged 2018 forerunner in terms of sales area productivity is Luxembourg (€7,248/m²). Second place goes to Norway (€6,428/m²), followed by Switzerland (€6,224/m²). With approximately €2,680/m² to €2,760/m², Romania, Poland and Bulgaria have the lowest sales area productivity values in the EU. Even so, these countries are among those boasting the largest gains, with annual increases from +5.7% to +6.7%, which means they are slowly but surely closing the gap.
