CoreLogic Expands U.S. Parcel and Boundary Database to Cover 98 Percent of Parcels in More Than 3,000 Counties

CoreLogic® (NYSE: CLGX), a leading global property information, analytics and data-enabled solutions provider, today announced that ParcelPoint® from CoreLogic has reached a milestone in parcel boundary coverage by expanding to cover more than 98 percent of parcels and all land-use types in 3,000 counties in the United States and 3,005 counties across all U.S. territories. ParcelPoint, based on patented technology, is the largest and most comprehensive parcel database in the U.S., and covers 155 million parcel boundaries and unique parcel point locations.

With the unfortunate increase in natural catastrophes over the past few years, the need for geospatial intelligence to help manage everything from emergency response to property damage assessment continues to grow. In answer to this need, the enhanced ParcelPoint database provides national standardized spatial data on 148.2 million parcel boundaries with an additional 7.2 million unique parcel “centroid” locations that report the geographic location, physical address, ownership information and detailed characteristics of an individual property. While both parcel boundaries and parcel points contain highly accurate positional location information, parcel boundaries provide more complete information about the entire expanse of a parcel rather than just a single “point” location. The extensive coverage of the broader parcel boundary data from CoreLogic is unique because it collects and maintains more parcel data – meaning a greater number of property characteristics – than anyone else.

“For over a decade, CoreLogic has been committed to the development and maintenance of a national land parcel database, and passing the 3,000 county threshold is a significant accomplishment,” said Matt Karli, senior leader product management for CoreLogic Insurance and Spatial Solutions. “It is inspiring that even after more than 10 years of leading in this space, we continue to see increased use and interest in our granular geospatial products.”

Data is sourced and updated on a quarterly basis from public records in various formats and quality checked for geometric errors, positional accuracy and attribution. The parcels are standardized for consistency and accuracy to create uniform information for widespread use. ParcelPoint data is also linked to additional public and proprietary data that CoreLogic maintains which provides over 200 unique property attributes. These provide dynamic insights on everything from land use, valuation, and structure characteristics, such as roof type and number of bedrooms. CoreLogic is the only known parcel provider that employs the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) to quantifiably assess the spatial accuracy of its data.
