Harris Corporation and Florida Tech Host Florida Unmanned Aircraft Summit

MELBOURNE, Fla. -Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) experts from throughout Florida gathered this week to explore trends in drone adoption and ways to help guide the impact of UAS integration across the state.

UAS operators and industry leaders from business, government and academia engaged in the “Florida UAS Summit” hosted by Harris Corporation and Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. Summit discussions ranged from industry trends and drivers, to the regulatory environment, to opportunities for UAS test beds in Florida.

Attendees participated in workshop discussions and demonstrations, and explored the latest in UAS and other technologies on display at Harris’ 2017 Technology Expo, held throughout the week at the company’s Global Innovation Center.

“Unmanned Aircraft Systems are a transformative technology that is reshaping many markets, including agriculture, railroads, utilities, and public safety, to name just a few,” said George Kirov, vice president and general manager, Commercial UAS Solutions, Harris Electronic Systems. “We are at a critical juncture in the industry.
