Envitia Launches MapLink Pro 8.0

“This is a very exciting release that pushes the envelope of visualization performance of embedded applications and now extends these capabilities into the mobile domain” says Matthew Wood, Product Manager, Envitia. “MapLink Mobile for Android provides customers with the full capabilities of the MapLink Core and Terrain SDK’s, enabling development of mobile applications that need to exploit geospatial capabilities such as geofencing.”
Central to realizing this focus are the enhancements to the WMS/WMTS client capabilities, including a seamless, persistent tile cache to preserve access to geospatial data when moving between connected and disconnected conditions. The geospatial data cloud is supplemented by compact, optimized map and terrain databases deployed directly to the device for highly efficient querying and rendering.

MapLink Mobile for Android provides customers with both Java and C++ interfaces and ships with an extensive developer guide, sample code, and new sample Android applications.

MapLink Pro 8.0 also provides a major enhancement to the 3D visualization capabilities through the integration of osgEarth with the core MapLink capabilities. Built on top of the open source Open Scene Graph (OSG) visualization libraries, osgEarth has been specifically built for mission-critical applications and is used all over the world, across a range of domains including defence, and simulation and modelling.

Additionally, MapLink Pro 8.0 allows developers and systems integrators to build applications in support of foreign military sales by providing the ability to display multiple languages (UTF-8 character sets) on a single map layer.

Enhancements have also been made to MapLink Pro Studio which now features preconfigured feature books for the most commonly used product datasets (including  OpenStreetMap support), new filtering options, automatic codepage detection, and usability enhancements such as copy/paste of feature rendering.

MapLink Pro 8.0

MapLink Pro is deployed in more than 8000 systems worldwide and is the geospatial toolkit of choice for the world’s leading system and technology integrators. A 30-day evaluation version of MapLink Pro 8.0, including the MapLink Pro for Android SDK, is available to download at http://www.envitia.com.
