Easier Management and More Tools for RTK Network Operators with Leica Spider Software Suite v5

By means of a highly customisable platform, the Spider suite can be tailored to provide high-speed, real-time management for such applications as GNSS surveying, machine control, GIS, seismic and structural monitoring.  Leica GNSS Spider is the core software component of this suite used to centrally manage GNSS networks and reference stations. Also integrated are the Leica Spider Business Center for managing rover user access securely, the Leica SpiderWeb for value-added web services and the Leica SpiderQC for quality control and data analysis.

New dongle-free licensing improves support of modern IT infrastructure

The Leica Spider software suite v5 now uses Leica Geosystems’ software-based licensing system Client License Manager CLM . This allows not only easier, hardware-independent installation and software use but also better tools for managing the entire Spider suite. “This new licensing technology allows installing and using the software conveniently and cost-effectively in remote data centres without the need for physical access to the servers.” says Product Manager at Leica Geosystems Markus Roland, “Also, fully functional evaluation licenses can be more easily distributed worldwide to existing and prospective customers.”

New rover real-time views via the re-launched web frontend

New user experience within the revamped web front-end of the Spider Business Center allows network administrators and support engineers to manage, monitor and support users in the field without the need for browser plugins by using HTML5 web technology – making 24h support to rover users more efficient and providing cutting-edge user experience to all users on any desktop or mobile operating systems using any browser. Thousands of rover users can easily be supported and contacted simultaneously from one central place.

“With the new modernised version of the Spider software suite, we can provide the best availability of worldwide SmartNet RTK correction service. The intuitive and modernised web front-end lets us support the end users efficiently with a fresh look in a world of rapidly evolving web technologies in offices or on mobile devices. It is great to see how many professional RTK service features are now delivered with the new Spider Software Suite, which is necessary to maintain the high level of quality needed for true 24/7 service.” says SmartNet Product Manager Robert Martin.

Availability

All GNSS reference station software products are available immediately and can be obtained from the myWorld @ Leica Geosystems website and local Leica Geosystems sales representatives or dealers. The software version upgrade is free of charge for all customers with a customer care package.
