Phase One Aerial Adds iXA-R Camera Platform and Introduces the iX Camera Controller

The new 80 MP, 60 MP and Achromatic iXA-R cameras share many of the same features as the successful iXA aerial cameras, including; focal plane and central leaf shutters, optional Forward Motion Com pensation, scalability to form multi-camera arrays, as well as easy integration with popular flight management systems and GPS/IMU receivers.

Phase One iXA-R cameras expand the iXA lens range by adding three new dedicated lenses with focal lengths of 40 mm, 50 mm and 70 mm. The enhanced lenses are designed and built by German lens manufacturer, Rodenstock. Each lens/shutter combination is adapted for aerial photography and offers low distortion, high MTF and excellent contrast. Each lens is individually inspected, calibrated for infinity focus and tested to ensure edge to edge sharpness across the sensor. The lenses, which are easily changed in the field, are outfitted with new, electronically controlled, central leaf shutter, guaranteeing the highest image quality for aerial photography applications.

The iX Controller, a fanless PC with a small footprint, uses the 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processor and is easily integrated into any aircraft. This rugged workhorse was created to provide the perfect environment for running Phase One iX Capture or SDK – based applications with Phase One aerial cameras. It comes with software preinstalled, enabling the control of multiple Phase One aerial cameras.

Dov Kalinski, General Manager of Phase One Industrial said, “Our new iXA-R camera platform with Rodenstock lenses, add three new focal lengths to our range of optics. The lenses cover most uses and are suitable for creating DTMs and DSMs for mapping as well as Orthophotos. The 50 mm lens, with its opening angle of 56.4º, is especially suited for capturing images alongside a LiDAR.”

Pricing and Availability

The Phase One iXA 180-R (including one of three lenses) has a list price of 67,000 USD / 50.000 Euro. The Phase One iX Controller has a list price of 7,000 USD / 5.300 Euro . The cameras and iX Controller will start shipping November 1, 2014 .
