Juniper Mesa Rugged Notepad Launch at GEO Business 2014

“The Mesa is truly ground breaking; combining for the first time the speed and simplicity of Windows Mobile on a larger, easy-to-use, ruggedized device,” commented Simon Bowe, General Manager of Juniper Systems Ltd. “The Mesa bucks the trend for ever smaller devices making it really easy to use in the field yet it can run within a wide range of temperatures, survive steel drops and is dust and water proof. GEO Business 2014 is the perfect place for us to formally launch the Mesa to the UK geospatial industry,” continued Bowe. “Some of the leading developers of software and services will be there attracting an audience of professionals from across Europe.”

Designed primarily for the geomatics and surveying sector, the Mesa is the world’s first rugged notepad; combining the functionality of tablet PC with features of a rugged handheld computer. With a large 5.7 inch high-visibility colour VGA LCD with embedded Windows operating system the device was described by RuggedPCReview as ‘Windows mobile comes alive on it, it looks better, and it’s a pleasure to use … this is how big Windows Mobile displays should be’.

The Mesa also includes GPS and camera enhancements, has a longer battery life than other systems and can be equipped with a variety of data collection and communication applications making it feature rich yet rugged enough for even the most challenging of environments.

Juniper Systems will also be showcasing the newly released Archer 2 featuring radical improvements in mobile rugged computing. The second-generation device includes an astonishingly bright sunlight visible display, extra-long battery life, as well as a high-sensitivity GPS/GLONASS/SBAS receiver, all encased within a rugged IP68 construction.

GEO Business 2014 is designed for professionals involved in the gathering, storing, processing and delivering of geospatial information. Combining a conference and an international trade exhibition, the event is expected to attract more than 80 of the world’s leading suppliers of geospatial products and services. GEO Business 2014 will also feature a programme of live workshops and demonstrations featuring the latest innovations and technology on offer. GEO Business takes place from the 28-29th May 2014 at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London. For further information visit geobusinessshow.com.
