The World Bank has approved a loan of US$500 million to the Vietnamese government to improve the capacity and efficiency of electrical transmission to areas that are key to the country’s economic development.
Those areas include the expanded areas of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta region, and the central region. The project will finance transmission lines and substations with 220 and 500 kilovolt capacities to increase the transmission capacity and reliability of the grid, the World Bank said in a recent statement.
