New Bangalore Government to Make Use of GIS for Smart Urban Planning

Central Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister (HUPA) Venkaiah Naidu announced in a press conference on Friday that one among many plans to develop Bangalore would be to make use of scientific Geographic Information System (GIS) for Town Planning. Adding that unregulated growth is the result of lack of planning and monitoring, he said in order to get rid of this problem, local bodies will be asked to plan using GIS technology, so that the development will be regulated in future. “We will ensure that there is systematic development,” he added.
