Thailand has been given the honor of hosting the International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Lancang-Mekong Sub-Region next year, which will deal with natural-disaster management, development, and security in the Mekong River basin. Deputy Government Spokesperson Pakdiharn Himathongkam said the event will be held in Chiang Mai province on January 13th and 14th. Foreign ministers from five Southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, will take part in the event along with China. A discussion between the participants will be hosted next month in preparation for the meeting.
