NBN Co Selects GNAF for Accurate Address Information

Developed and managed by PSMA Australia, GNAF provides an authoritative geocoded record of more than 13.2 million physical addresses in Australia, with an average of more than 50,000 new addresses added every three months. Every address in the dataset includes details of locality, street and street number as well as longitude and latitude, providing each address with a unique geographic coordinate.

Dan Paull, PMSA Australia Chief Executive Officer said: “The original address data for GNAF comes from authoritative government sources including state and territory mapping agencies and land registrations, the Australian Electoral Commission and Australia Post.

“GNAF has a proven track record of supporting business critical systems in a wide range of industries including the telecommunications, insurance, banking and finance and utilities sectors. GNAF also underpins Australia’s National Address Management Framework that has been adopted by governments at all levels.”

To protect privacy, GNAF does not contain personal information, such as names or business types.

PSMA is the national provider of authoritative location information and services for Australia. The governments of Australia – the shareholders of PSMA Australia Limited – established the company so the nation could more easily access the benefits of managing information by location.
Through PSMA Australia, the governments of Australia are seeking a single point of truth for fundamental national location datasets. These datasets are fundamental in that they comprise an ‘information infrastructure’ that supports the delivery of multiple economic, social and environmental benefits by governments.
