Geocarto Launches Glasses-free 3D Processing Service

Remote Sensing professionals and scientists who wish to enhance presentation of their projects can now add a 3rd dimension to 2Dsatellite images/aerial photos. This special 3D processing service is provided by Geocarto International Centre Ltd (GIC) in Hong Kong.

GIC was established in 1985 to promote the application of satellite remote sensing. Since 2009, it has been producing spectacular 3D satellite pictures from 2D imagery for scientific and educational applications.

Unlike 3D modelling which only generates perspective view in a computer, the 3D pictures provided by Geocarto does not need glasses to experience 3D effect. For further information, one can visit www.geocarto.com.hk/project

Realistic 3D satellite images and aerial photos are more impressive for display, exhibition, promotion, demonstration, presentation and planning. They enhance visualization of terrain and facilitate monitoring of construction projects. They are custom-made permanent hard copy and can be produced in various sizes and any number of copies. Such 3D processing may be accomplished with either 2D digital images or stereo pairs of digital images using lenticular technology.

The Centre is the publisher of the book, “Remote Sensing with IDRISI: A Beginner’s Guide”, and a wide range of 3D imagery items.

Geocarto International Centre Ltd. is also an authorized reseller of DigitalGlobe satellite data, including WorldView-3 satellite imagery of 30 cm resolution.
