1Spatial Group Appoints Martin Gregory as General Manager, 1Spatial Asia Pacific

Mr Gregory has relocated from the company’s Cambridge, UK headquarters to Sydney. He is responsible for the management of 1Spatial’s Australian office as well as growing the business in the Asia Pacific region. Martin has extensive knowledge of the 1Spatial business and already has good relationships with customers in the region.

With a customer list featuring prominent Australian and New Zealand organisations like PSMA Australia, Land Information New Zealand and Queensland Transport and Main Roads, he will be able to continue to build 1Spatial’s success in the Asia region. His other key goal is to drive the uptake of spatial big data solutions to meet the booming demand for accurate, accessible and high quality digital geographic information.

“There are currently a number of initiatives to modernise National Mapping Agencies around the region,” said Mr Gregory. “Natural disasters have highlighted the need for up to date digital maps to efficiently coordinate a response. Governments also understand that the right geospatial information – embodied in the Smart Cities concept – can drive economic growth by creating and supporting infrastructure more efficiently.”

Mr Gregory believes 1Spatial’s big data solutions, leveraging the company’s experience delivering transformation of large spatial databases for Ordnance Survey Great Britain, Ordnance Survey Ireland and major European Utilities organisations, will play a key role in these modernisation initiatives. 1Spatial’s solutions increase productivity and reduce operational costs and risks by automating spatial data management. They enable users to rapidly respond in real time and ensure that data is current, accurate and trustworthy.

He also sees great potential for the company’s solutions to assist innovative local governments to better serve their citizens. “Whether it’s putting Development Applications online or helping residents identify the risk of fire or flooding, councils are under pressure to make their mapping data available, highlighting the need for it to be of a consistent and high quality.”

Mr Gregory has been with 1Spatial for over 20 years and has held numerous roles involving areas such as technical, project management and sales. He also has extensive experience with international clients, including a two year secondment working for the National Mapping Agency of Mexico.
