CEVA Partners with Galileo Satellite Navigation to Offer Low Power, Software-based GNSS Solutions

GSN’s software-based approach to satellite receivers enables SoC developers to easily incorporate advanced GNSS navigation functionality into their designs, with virtually no effect on performance, area and cost, and with no use of hardware acceleration. Illustrating this, GSN’s GNSS receiver consumes as little as 5% of the available MIPS on a CEVA-XC323 DSP, enabling it to easily run concurrently with a broad range of other air interfaces on the same processor, including LTE, LTE-Advanced, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as smart grid protocols. The CEVA-TeakLite-III software-based implementation enables a cost- and power-efficient GNSS solution for mobile and automotive devices.

The GSN GNSS receiver running on a CEVA DSP consumes very little power – as low as 10mW in a 40nm process – and has the ability to work in lower rates, or “snap-shots” for ultra-low-power mobile scenarios. The solution delivers a tracking sensitivity of -165 dBm, offering a seamless GNSS experience in challenging environments.
