Spectra Precision Facilitates Electronic Center for Management of Geodata

Land survey for road construction is a linear type project that can benefit from the integrated use of several land survey solutions. The ECMG system begins with field technicians collecting data using fully integrated Spectra Precision Epoch GNSS receivers, Focus 30 robotic total stations and Nomad data collectors.  Data is exchanged and full integration is achieved across the different units by using the same Survey Pro software running on all the units.  With the Epoch receiver’s static capabilities all base stations and backsight points are measured.  After the project map is updated with the Focus 30, the data is transferred via either Wi-Fi or GSM /UMTS to a mobile connectivity center, typically located in the technician’s vehicle, where it is transmitted to the office network and the central office via GSM (GPRS, EDGE) nor UMTS (HSDPA).  At the central office, the geospatial database is automatically updated and post-processing calculations are completed.  The data is reviewed with the clients and investors, decisions are made, and the new data is used to finalize design of the road.  Design and stake out information is completed and with the fieldwork agenda it is wirelessly returned to the field unit for stakeout.  OPGK is achieving significant efficiencies with this new system. OPGK purchased the Spectra Precision solution from Impexgeo.

About OPGK

Established in 1946 and headquartered in Olsztyn, Poland, Okręgowe Przedsiębiorstwo Geodezyjno-Kartograficzne (OPGK) is one of Poland’s largest survey company’s with 119 employees.  Poland is undergoing a significant expansion of its road and highway infrastructure, and OPGK has responded by devoting its substantial resources to this effort and developing the Electronic Center for Management of Geodata.

About the Focus 30 Total Station

The Spectra Precision Focus 30 total station sets new standards for technology, design and ergonomic operation with StepDrive, LockNGo and Robotic in combination with the Survey Pro application software effectively covers all surveying areas. StepDrive technology provides a fast and robust drive system, ensuring very precise manual sighting and fast tracking. The automatic LockNGo system which detects, measures and tracks passive prism reflectors is based on the latest camera technologies and image processing algorithms. Distance measurement uses the principle of phase shift measurement, both to prisms and to natural surfaces. With Survey Pro field software the graphical Active Survey map screen speed activities; for example, tap and hold to create new points, then select points and switch to a graphical stakeout screen to complete the task.

About the Epoch GNSS Receiver

The Spectra Precision EPOCH GNSS system, with its 220 channels, makes effective use of the GPS L1/L2/L2C/L5 and GLONASS L1/L2 signals for outstanding satellite coverage and precise positioning. The EPOCH GNSS receiver uses proven technologies to provide both an extremely stable phase center and tracking of the new stronger L2C and L5 signals.

About Impexgeo

Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Nieporęt near Warsaw, Impexgeo has grown to become one of Poland’s largest suppliers of measurement equipment for surveying and GIS applications.  It is Poland’s foremost Trimble GIS dealer and country’s sole Nikon and Spectra Precision dealer with a wide range of sub dealers to provide support throughout the entire country.
