The one-meter DMC-3 satellites are being build by Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSLT) in the United Kingdom. The satellites will be leased to Beijing-based Twenty First Century Aerospace Technology Company Limited (21AT) for a period of seven years.
“The three satellites form a new constellation, DMC-3, with daily revisit times, which is crucial for change detection, disaster monitoring and response planning, and essential for acquiring cloud-free imagery,” according to the SSLT website about the DMC-3 mission.
ISRO plands to launch the 350kg DMC-3 by the yearend or early 2015 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
