We would be pleased to receive editorial relating to the Asian spatial industry.
We are interested in stories of the following type:
- Major news stories/Features: Typically 500-1000 words. These may be articles on major events in the region, technology overviews, opinion pieces or user application stories. For more information on writing these stories please see Guide to Authors.
- News: 100 words maximum.
- New Products: 50 words maximum, with a link to further details on the vendor's site.
Guide to Authors
Would you like to write for ASM? The following note will help you to provide us with editorial that we can use. It tells you something about our audience, and gives some advice on how to organise your thoughts before you start to write.
ASM was established in 2003. It is an English-language publication devoted to a belief that the industry in Asia would benefit from international communications within the region.
Most of our circulation is in Asian countries although we do have some subscribers in Australia, North America and Europe.
Our readership includes a diverse professional group, linked only by an interest in spatial information. Hence it is important that you spell out all acronyms except GIS, GPS, GNSS and NASA.
English is a second language for almost all our readers, so it is essential you keep your language and sentence construction as simple as possible.
Try to write in a chatty, non-academic style. ASM is not an academic journal. Our aim is to convince people that this technology is interesting, important and useful, and our articles should always attempt to convey something of the excitement that drives the industry.
It is useful to begin a paper by outlining the problem as you see it, explaining why it should be of concern, then by telling us how you solved the problem.
The preferred length is about 500 words, and certainly less than 1000 words.Please do not use sub-headings or references. If you need to refer to prior work, refer to it explicitly in the text.
Your copy may be edited for reasons of style, length and consistency. Where significant alterations are made, an author's copy will be returned to you for verification.
